Leadership & Ministry Team
New City Church Makuhari is served by pastors and ministry team members who use their gifts to care for the church, make disciples, and advance its mission. As a developing church plant, we are working toward establishing a plurality of qualified pastors and recognized deacons while continuing to develop and equip men and women for ministry.
Our Pastors
We believe the biblical pattern for local church leadership is a plurality of qualified male elders, also called pastors, who meet the qualifications described in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1. Jesus Christ is the head of His church, and pastors serve under His authority by teaching, shepherding, praying, providing oversight, and equipping the church for ministry.
Within a plurality of elders, each pastor contributes particular gifts and areas of emphasis within the life of the church. Together, pastors seek to equip both men and women to use their gifts in meaningful ministry and service according to God’s design revealed in Scripture.

As our church develops, we are working toward establishing a plurality of qualified pastors who will share this responsibility with humility and accountability.
Jared Vanning
Vision, Leadership Development, and Teaching
Jared helps shape the overall direction and theological vision of the church. He is passionate about raising up leaders, equipping others for ministry, and keeping the gospel central in all we do.
Our Ministry Team
Our Ministry Team consists of men and women who serve in ongoing ministry, outreach, or administrative roles within the church. These roles are distinct from the biblical offices of pastor and deacon. Each person serves according to his or her gifts and responsibilities under the oversight of the pastors, helping the church carry out its mission faithfully and effectively.
Nozomi Vanning
Nozomi helps build relationships in the community through English classes, local outreach, and Gospel Music Night. She also leads Bible Cafe, our weekly women’s Bible study, and regularly provides Japanese translation during our Sunday gatherings.
Allie Schug
Allie serves as a missionary with New City Church Makuhari, building relationships in the community and serving alongside our church in outreach, Bible studies, and other ministries. While continuing her Japanese language studies, she has a particular desire to disciple Japanese women and help others connect with the life and community of the church.
